Minnesota Birds
Birds of Minnesota, and especially in my own back yard in Minneapolis. In photographing birds, I go after the details; I want to be looking the bird in the eye. And that means getting close, even if it involves a bit of trickery.
I enjoy watching birds in a hard Minnesota winter, and learning about amazing skills and knowledge they need in order to survive here year round.
Prints of all my photos are available here.

House Finch
A male House Finch, Haemorhous mexicanus. This small bird is now found in large parts of North America after being introduced illegally in the 1940s. Here in Minnesota, it now winters over, despite being originally from Mexico.
