Minnesota Birds
Birds of Minnesota, and especially in my own back yard in Minneapolis. In photographing birds, I go after the details; I want to be looking the bird in the eye. And that means getting close, even if it involves a bit of trickery.
I enjoy watching birds in a hard Minnesota winter, and learning about amazing skills and knowledge they need in order to survive here year round.
Prints of all my photos are available here.

Screaming Eagle
This North American bald eagle, Haliaeetus leucocephalus, is a permanent resident at the University of Minnesota Raptor Center due to an injury, and was on display at an outdoor event at a preserve on the St. Croix River. Something caught his eye - possibly another eagle flying overhead - and he gave his shrieking cry of territorial defense.
