Minnesota Birds
Birds of Minnesota, and especially in my own back yard in Minneapolis. In photographing birds, I go after the details; I want to be looking the bird in the eye. And that means getting close, even if it involves a bit of trickery.
I enjoy watching birds in a hard Minnesota winter, and learning about amazing skills and knowledge they need in order to survive here year round.
Prints of all my photos are available here.

Blue Jay with peanut
A Blue Jay (Cyanocitta cristata) and a peanut he's just extracted from its shell. It's November in Minnesota and as it gets cold, these birds appreciate the calories they can get from nuts.
