Minnesota Birds
Birds of Minnesota, and especially in my own back yard in Minneapolis. In photographing birds, I go after the details; I want to be looking the bird in the eye. And that means getting close, even if it involves a bit of trickery.
I enjoy watching birds in a hard Minnesota winter, and learning about amazing skills and knowledge they need in order to survive here year round.
Prints of all my photos are available here.

Hummingbird Dancing On Air
A female Ruby-Throated Hummingbird, Archilochus colubris, shows her mastery of the air. She winters in Central America, Mexico or Florida and comes north in the summer. This is the only species of hummingbird commonly seen here in Minnesota.
