Minnesota Birds
Birds of Minnesota, and especially in my own back yard in Minneapolis. In photographing birds, I go after the details; I want to be looking the bird in the eye. And that means getting close, even if it involves a bit of trickery.
I enjoy watching birds in a hard Minnesota winter, and learning about amazing skills and knowledge they need in order to survive here year round.
Prints of all my photos are available here.

Coooper's Hawk In A Snowstorm
A Cooper's hawk (Accipiter cooperii) stays alert during a Minnesota snowstorm. There's a feeder nearby, and he knows small birds - his preferred prey - will be visiting it often in bad weather.
