Minnesota Birds
Birds of Minnesota, and especially in my own back yard in Minneapolis. In photographing birds, I go after the details; I want to be looking the bird in the eye. And that means getting close, even if it involves a bit of trickery.
I enjoy watching birds in a hard Minnesota winter, and learning about amazing skills and knowledge they need in order to survive here year round.
Prints of all my photos are available here.

Red-winged Blackbird In Early Spring
The female Red-winged Blackbird looks nothing like the male. Often described as "dull" or "camouflaged", she is actually a beautiful bird when seen up close.
