Insects live and work in a world of amazing botanical structure and intense color that we can barely imagine. I try to capture the beauty of these wildly varied and amazingly successful creatures, in the small yet dazzling world they live in.

Metallic Green Halactid bee on Aster
Agapostemon virescens, one of the so-called "sweat bees" of the family Halictidae, that are attracted to perspiration and the salt it contains. The head and thorax of this tiny bee are a metallic green. This one is working a purple Aster in October.
