Insects live and work in a world of amazing botanical structure and intense color that we can barely imagine. I try to capture the beauty of these wildly varied and amazingly successful creatures, in the small yet dazzling world they live in.

Japanese Beetle on Rattlesnake Master
The Japanese beetle - Popillia japonica - a species of scarab beetle, is considered a pest here in Minnesota and the rest of the U.S. because it has no natural predators and can get out of hand, completely destroying plants. But they're otherwise harmless and colorful.
