Minnesota Pollinators and "friends"
Insects live and work in a world of amazing botanical structure and intense color that we can barely imagine. I try to capture the beauty of these wildly varied and amazingly successful creatures, in the small yet dazzling world they live in.
Recently I've been photographing Minnesota's pollinators on native plants.

Thread-waisted wasp Prionyx
A thread-waisted wasp of the Prionyx genus, possibly Prionyx Parkeri. It's a pollinator, but is also known to attack grasshoppers, paralyze them with a sting, and use them as food for their young. This one is on a Rattlesnake Master - Eryngium yuccifolium - in Minnesota. "Prionyx" translates roughly as "saw claw" which seems appropriate.
