Minnesota Pollinators and "friends"
Insects live and work in a world of amazing botanical structure and intense color that we can barely imagine. I try to capture the beauty of these wildly varied and amazingly successful creatures, in the small yet dazzling world they live in.
Recently I've been photographing Minnesota's pollinators on native plants.

Great Golden Digger Wasp
Great Golden Digger Wasp, Sphex ichneumoneus, one of the so-called thread-waisted wasps. This one is on Rattlesnake Master, Eryngium yuccifolium, in Minnesota. These large wasps may look scary at first but are actually peaceful, solitary and non-agressive pollinators that are good to have around.
